
Marisa Hollinshead, MD
Biography
Marisa Hollinshead, MD, graduated from the University of Washington with a dual degree in Sociology and Society and Justice. After graduation, she moved to Boston where she worked as a research manager at the Center for Brain Science at Harvard University. At the Center, she worked on a study utilizing neuroimaging, genetic, and behavioral methods to study psychiatric illness and properties of brain structure and function that convey risk for disease. She also led a project exploring social networks of the brain in individuals diagnosed with Autism. She then attended the Northeast Ohio Medical University and Cleveland State University (NEOMED-CSU) Partnership for Urban Health, a program to train physicians who are committed to working with historically underserved populations. In parallel with her medical training, Marisa worked as a member of the research team at the Prevention Research Center for Healthy Neighborhoods (PRCHN) at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. As a member of the PRCHN, she served as Co-Investigator on a community-based research project that explored the mental health needs of Latine adolescents within Cleveland, Ohio. At Brown, Marisa is part of the NIMH R25 research track and is working with Dr. Duarté-Vélez, and collaborators at the PRCHN, on further analysis of the focus groups and interviews on Latine youth mental health. Marisa is excited to join her colleagues for fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Brown University where she will continue serving members of the community through clinical practice and research.
